ISF Non-Compliance Regulations and Forms
Importers have until January 26, 2010 to become ISF compliant for all cargo arriving by ocean into the USA. After this date, U.S. Customs & Border Protection will assess penalties in the amount of $5,000 to $10,000 per violation. ISF must be filed 24 hours prior to the vessel sailing.
It is important to advise your suppliers of the severity of non-compliance and insure they have a system in place to assist you with ISF compliance. Prior to the phase, Charles M Schayer & Company will begin notifying importers of shipments that are in non-compliance. The purpose of this is to help you identify which suppliers or forwarders are not supplying you with the necessary information.
Textile and Apparel Imports Fall Again in December
